The Town Hall was originally built in 1886 as the Memorial Town Hall in honor of the Civil War soldiers from North Haven. The builder and also the architect was Solomon Fowler Linsley, a prominent North Haven resident. Linsley had enlisted to serve in the Civil War and rose to the rank of Second Lieutenant. Returning after the War he is known for having built numerous buildings in North Haven. The exterior of the building was extensively renovated in 1951. Photograph below of the original building courtesy of the North Haven Historical Society.
